We’re not expecting to see Apple Glasses before 2022 at the earliest, but we’ve now seen a prototype of one rival effort: Facebook AR glasses. Interestingly, this prototype has no display and is entirely focused on an auditory experience. It’s part super-sophisticated hearing aid, part virtual reality device … The Facebook Reality Labs Research team revealed the prototype, which is likely just one element of an eventual commercial product. The first HomeKit-compatible devices are likely now in production as two chipmakers confirmed to Forbes that they have begun shipping Apple-certified Bluetooth and Wifi chips to device manufacturers. Apple first announced HomeKit at its developer conference back in June. Last week, it was reported that a former Apple employee had been charged by the FBI with stealing trade secrets related to the company’s Project Titan autonomous driving technology. As reported by Reuters, however, Xiaolang Zhang has pleaded not guilty… The report explains that Zhang pleaded not guilty during a hearing today in San Jose, California. Matt Margolis is predicting that Apple will be switching from DDR3 to DDR4 RAM for future MacBooks this year, suggesting faster performance and improved battery-life. One of Apple’s RAM manufacturer. Micron, says that DDR3 bandwidth tops out at around 17GB/s, while DDR4 aims to double this by 2015: The company has not given specific targets for improved battery-life, but says that it aims to reduce power consumption in both active and standby modes....

Just over three months after the conclusion of the trial, Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers has handed down her ruling in the Apple vs. Epic Games case. Judge Rogers has issued a permanent injunction saying that Apple can no longer forbid developers from directing users to third-party payment options.
