First off, they’re often used to Level Up Heroes to increase their overall stats. And they can also be used to Level Up Fodder Units & Phantasmas to prepare them for their Promotions. Penguins also have three rarities: TIP: The higher the rarity, the harder they are to get in the game (you cannot get Epic Penguins outside of Shops, Achievements, or Events) so please use your Penguins wisely. There’s also a handful of ways you can farm penguins, which we’ll cover in more detail further down in this guide. But for a quick reference, these are the most common ways to get your hands on penguins:

Leveling With Penguins
Leveling Heroes
While Heroes can also be leveled up by taking them through Adventure Stages, or by sending them out on Expeditions, they can be leveled up much faster through the use of Penguins.
Leveling Phantasmas
Phantasmas are the primary units that are used for Hero Promotions. They need to be leveled up to max each time they’re Promoted, so that way they can be Promoted to further Grades – and that’s where Penguins come in. Instead of taking the time to run every single one of them through Adventure Stages (Dog Walking), you can instead use Penguins to make life easier for yourself.
Leveling Fodder Units
Using Penguins on Fodder Units is optional, and most players only do this if they’re running low on Mega-Phantasms. But this is still an option. Arguably, Leveling Up Fodder Units via Penguins and Promoting them to 3★ to be used as Promotion Materials for Max Level 3★ Phantasmas is a more cost-effective way of using them.
How Do You Get Penguins?
There are approximately 5 ways you can get Penguins in Epic Seven, and they are as follows:
Exchange Shops
You can get Experienced Penguins from a few Shops such as the:
Event Currency Exchange Shop Friendship Point Exchange Shop Transmit Stone Shop
Each of these shops requires unique currencies — not to mention the Penguins for sale are also fairly expensive. So buy them at your own discretion.
Forest of Souls
The Forest of Souls provides you with the opportunity to get Penguins for free, though you’ll have to wait a set amount of time depending on the level of your Forest of Souls. However, you can use Stigma to receive Penguins immediately if you’re strapped for time – or if you just want to wait for Phantasmas or Molagoras instead. There’s also a chance that you may receive Experienced Penguins or even Epic Penguins here. But your Forest of Souls must have the appropriate upgrades for that.
Events
Participating in Events will almost always guarantee you an Experienced Penguin or two. And although quite rare, you can also get Epic Penguins from Events. So if you’d like to go this route, I’d keep an eye out for them on the Events Page in your Mailbox!
Achievement Rewards
Oftentimes by achieving certain requirements in both the Adventure and Event Maps, you’re given Penguins as rewards. Examples of these are the Region Rewards and Quest Rewards in the Adventure maps, which you clear by completing every stage in a given region. Reputation Rewards, on the other hand, are mostly featured in Event Quests, unlocked by achieving various event-specific requirements.
Clearing Stages with Max Level Units (Best Method)
This is by far the best method to farm Penguins after they were revamped. To do this, you simply have to take max-level Heroes on every stage that you clear. This way, the excess EXP will be converted to Penguins — giving you an indeterminate amount which largely depends on how hard the stage is, your Pet Bonuses, and the EXP boosts you have taken with you. TIP: If you want to farm Penguins with this method, it’s recommended that you run stages with a Blessing of Knowledge or an EXP Booster buff on your account — along with a Pet with EXP Boosting Skills. These buffs will significantly increase the amount of EXP you’ll be getting per run, which ultimately results in more Penguins farmed after every stage clear.
