The highly anticipated X-Men: Grand Design - first announced as a six-issue miniseries releasing in pairs at San Diego Comic-Con last summer - finally debuts in an oversized trade paperback format next week, recapping (and tweaking) the the biggest moments in the history of Marvel’s mighty mutants, and Screen Rant has the exclusive on the cover to the sequel, X-Men: Grand Design, Second Genesis.

We can also exclusively reveal that the X-Men: Grand Design, Second Genesis TPB will feature Ed Piskor’s awesome re-coloring of of the hit classic, Giant Sized X-Men # 1.

The X-Men: Grand Design trade paperback collects both the acclaimed first two issues of X-Men: Grand Design as well as X-Men #1 from 1963 - written by Stan Lee, penciled by Jack Kirby, inked by Paul Reinmen, lettered by Sam Rosen and now masterfully recolored by Piskor in his distinctive style. Take a look for yourself:

The book will be published as a Marvel Treasury Edition, in the same dynamic, oversized format of the bestselling Hip Hop Family Tree, and includes extras including recolored classic pinups. The X-MEN: GRAND DESIGN trade paperback is on sale in bookstores on April 3rd and on sale in comic shops on April 4th.

Best known for documenting the history of hip hop with the bestselling Hip Hop Family Tree graphic novels, Piskor is sampling and distilling more than 8,000 pages of superheroic storytelling to create a definitive remix of the first 280 original issues of X-Men comic books and 30 years of complicated continuity, into one seamless masterpiece.

Over six tumultuous decades, the X-Men have carved a singular place in comic book lore and popular culture. From their riotous birth in the ’60s, to their legendary reboot in the ’70s, to their attitude adjustment in the ’90s, to their battle against extinction in the ’00s, the X-Men have remained unquestionably relevant to generations of readers, the ultimate underdogs in an increasingly complicated world. Now, New York Times bestselling author Ed Piskor (Hip-Hop Family Tree, Wizzywig) takes you on a pulse-pounding tour of X-Men history unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before, an intricate labor of love that stitches together hundreds of classic and obscure stories into one seamless masterpiece of X-Men lore.

X-Men: Grand Design, Second Genesis should be out this summer sometime. Way faster than we originally anticipated. As you can see with what’s been published so far, there’s a lot that goes into each issue. Spread the word and stay tuned. pic.twitter.com/tCQ4J5zv8k— Ed Piskor (@EdPiskor) January 4, 2018
