Facebook today confirmed previous rumors that it was developing a Messenger-based virtual assistant codenamed “Moneypenny.” The software was debuted today under the name “M,” and will be available in a very limited release to users in the Bay Area starting today. Apple Support has responded to a report of an exploding iPhone X – occurring immediately after being upgraded to iOS 12.1 – by stating that this is ‘definitely not expected behavior’ … Apple offered its response on Twitter. Gadgets360 reached out to Rahel Mohamad, who filed the report. The upgrade is almost certainly just coincidental. Mohamad says he was using the bundled Apple charger and cable to charge the phone, though the explosion took place after it was removed from charge....

Facebook is now beginning a broader rollout of Dark Mode support on iOS. This comes 5 months after Facebook confirmed its plans to roll out Dark Mode support for iOS, and over a year after Dark Mode came to the iPhone with iOS 13. Now, Facebook has confirmed in collaboration with Jane Manchun Wong that it is now publicly testing Dark Mode support on iPhone. This doesn’t necessarily mean the feature is available to everyone, but it does signal that it’s coming to a wider percentage of the user base now....

Epic Games has decided to add OpenCritic reviews to their store, but there is still no user review function. The Epic Games Store launched in December of 2018 as both a storefront and a PC game launcher. The store and launcher in its current form does not have as many user-friendly options like Steam. Epic Games launched the store after the massive success of their game Fortnite. Tim Sweeney, the founder and CEO of Epic Games, feels that stores like Steam take far too much of a revenue cut from game sales....

The consensus view of the Epic Games case is that Apple is likely to win, but Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has today suggested that it may not be quite as clear cut as that.
